About Michele
Michele grew up in her family’s greenhouse business in Oneonta - one of the largest geranium growers in the state. A former Oneonta City Council member, she advocated for summer childhood programming to help working families, a community dog park, improving energy efficiency for the city to save taxpayer money, and making local parks family-friendly smoke-free zones.
Michele now lives in Delhi where she is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at SUNY Delhi. She lives with her spouse and three sons, two of whom are neurodivergent. Michele is also a Real Estate Agent for a locally-owned real estate company.
Michele’s Priorities
Housing
Increase housing stock through innovative solutions with sustainable building practices that save on heating costs, providing affordable housing options so people can live, raise a family and retire here. Address short-term rentals, low stock and unhoused population through affordable housing initiatives that make our communities safer and healthier.
Expand Crisis Services
Revise our 911 system to include mental health, domestic violence, suicide and drug overdose professionals to relieve law enforcement, freeing them to focus on public safety and reducing emergency service wait times. Because when we respond to a crisis with the right set of skills and tools, we all benefit.
Family Care
As a mom of neurodivergent kids and daughter of an aging parent, I know how important it is to have access to services. I want to expand child and elder care, making it easier for seniors and parents to get the support they need when they need it.
Education
Every parent wants their child to have a quality education that sets them up for future success. I will fight to make sure that the state prioritizes its financial obligations to our public schools, so every school and every teacher — no matter the zip code — has the resources they need.
Healthcare
We must invest in our rural hospitals, support innovative programs like school-based health, improve access to in-home care, and bring down the costs of healthcare by passing the New York Health Act. And I will fight for every person in New York to have access to reproductive health care.
