Michelle Hinchey
Candidate for New York State Senate
About Michelle
Michelle Hinchey ran for office in 2020 with one goal: to be a strong voice for the Hudson Valley communities she calls home. As the youngest woman to represent an Upstate district, she’s hit the ground running, with 75 bills signed into law in just three years!
Whether she’s holding polluters accountable, taking on utility companies, or fighting to make life more affordable, Senator Hinchey is all about getting things done. Following in her father’s footsteps, she’s proud to carry on his legacy of service and standing up for what’s right, for everyone in the Hudson Valley.
Michelle’s Priorities
Tackling Housing Affordability
Every family should be able to call our community home. That’s why Senator Michelle Hinchey fought to increase supply by rehabilitating abandoned homes and passed a new short-term rental registry to return tax dollars to our communities.
Holding Central Hudson Accountable
Senator Michelle Hinchey fought Central Hudson on utility rate hikes and held them accountable for their outrageous price gouging. She wrote a law requiring transparent billing so no Upstate New Yorker gets ripped off.
Protecting our Drinking Water
Senator Michelle Hinchey secured hundreds of millions of dollars to safeguard our drinking water and passed a law holding corporate polluters accountable for damage they cause to our environment.
Defending Reproductive Rights
Senator Hinchey led the charge to protect abortion access in NY for patients and providers and championed enshrining those protections in the NY Constitution.
“From expanding broadband and healthcare access, to securing historic investments in our roads and small businesses, to bringing universal pre-k to communities outside NYC and fully funding our schools in the process, I am incredibly proud of the transformational investments I’ve been able to secure for our region.”
