About Jonathan
Jonathan Jacobson was first elected to the New York State Assembly in November 2018 and helped make the 2019 legislative session one of the most productive in history. He previously served as an Assistant New York State Attorney General, where he headed the Consumer Frauds Bureau at the Poughkeepsie Regional Office protecting the people of New York State from fraudulent and illegal business practices. He was also a New York State Workers’ Compensation Law Judge, and previously served on the Newburgh City Council.
Jonathan is a product of the Newburgh public school system having graduated from Newburgh Free Academy (NFA). He graduated from Duke University, cum laude, with Honors in Political Science, and continued his education at New York Law School, where he graduated with his Juris Doctor degree.
Jonathan’s Priorities
Securing Reproductive rights in New York State by codifying Roe v. Wade into law with the Reproductive Health Act and other reforms
Strengthening Common Sense Gun Safety laws including the Red Flag Bill
Making it Easier to Register and Vote by Championing Early Voting and other election reforms
Increasing School Funding so all districts will receive at lest 100% of Foundation Aid
Funding Pre-K outside NYC to enable our local districts to expand or offer Pre-K for the first time
Expanding College Opportunities
Protecting Consumers from Untimely and Inaccurate Billing from Central Hudson
Fighting for Accountability in Workforce Development to make sure workers are place in productive and good-paying jobs
Expanding Equality, Fighting Hate, Protecting LGBTQ+ Rights
Supporting the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act
Fighting Against Corruption and Conflicts in Industrial Development Agencies (IDAs)
